individually designed handwoven apparel and accessories
As I create my handmade apparel and accessories, I weave with natural fiber yarns; rayon, cotton, linen, and bamboo. My current scarf and shawl collection is inspired by the impressionist paintings of Claude Monet. Using glossy weft yarns in a floating pattern, as well as a blended shimmer of the soft colors of Monet's pallet, I have tried to capture something of his approach to texture and color.
When sewing garments and purses with my handwovens, I trim edges with batiks from Indonesia, elegant cotton prints, vintage fabrics, and hand painted cottons. The handwoven fabrics are shrunk after weaving and everything can be handwashed in cold water with a gentle soap. I am also inspired by Japanese kimonos, ethnic clothing and nature for my fabric and garment designs.
